This is an attractive private label 1883 model signed J. Edward Wilson, Boston, Mass. There is another well known private label signed Wilson Brothers, with a King of the Road marking and a matching dial. I think that J. Edward Wilson probably preceded the Wilson Brothers of Boston, but it could also be later. I need to do more research on this one. The pinwheel damaskeening pattern is also found on the King of the Road movements. Unfortunately the serial number 7,821,057 is a bit too late for the detailed factory information. I think that this watch is an Appleton Tracy/grade 35 movement, but this range was combined with P. S. Bartlett movements in the gray book listings. The gold jewel settings probably indicate the higher grade.
