Setting Back Case Mark Movement

The Am'n Grade was Waltham's second highest grade designation during the period of production of the 1872 model. Earlier and later it was generally equivalent to the Appleton Tracy Grade.

This is an especially attractive Am'n Grade movement in a Sterling Silver AWCo case with all gold fittings. These Sterling cases are probably more scarce than the movements. The watch appears to be completely original as it was originally sold.

The serial number is 1,673,044.

Other examples of the Am'n Grade have appeared that have been "over finished" or upgraded to a higher finish than is normal on these watches. Many of these have engraved gold hubs on the winding wheels and other special touches. It is generally believed that these watches were the personal watches of factory employees who were allowed to purchase material to finish on their own time to develop their skills.
