Front Back Movement Escapement

This 1888 Riverside movement has been fitted with Cole's Resilient Escapement using one of a number of escape wheels that were found among the materials of the Waltham Engineering Department when the department was shut down in the 1950's.

Pat Caruso fitted the escape wheel and made the necessary adjustments to the pallets to make the watch run. It is not known which movements were originally intended to have these escapements. One or two examples have shown up that may have been original factory production. The escape wheels will fit a wide range of Nashua department watches.

The movement serial number is 9,137,595.

The closeup shows the escape wheel tooth shape in the center near the balance wheel.
