The 1 size 1882 model in Am'n Grade is the highest grade produced in the 1 size movement. These watches have a frosted finish and beautiful engraving along with a gold train and raised gold jewel settings. They are often found in beautiful gold hunting cases as in this example. This watch is a scarce private label example made for Ketell & Briggs. It was produced between 1887 and 1891 in a run of 900 watches 3,291001 - 3,291900). The higher grade movements often have long periods between start of production and final shipment. This is compounded by the fact that there was recession during this period. The case on this watch originally housed a lower grade model from the same period. |
