Front open no spring Movement Case Back Dial Closeup Case Front Closed Case Back Mark Cuvette Mark Cuvette

The 1891 Model Riverside Maximus is a scarce watch with a total production of only 900. This example with serial number 7,165553 was produced in a run of 700 movements between October 1896 and March 1902. The second run of 200 serial numbers (7,196,801 to 7,195,000) was produced between April 1900 and August 1901.

This watch appears to have been cased as an ordinary hunter case but has had the front cover opened and a crystal installed. The bezel ring to hold the crystal makes it difficult to fit a second crystal over the dial, but the inner bezel still is cut for the inner crystal.

The dial is the most desirable dial for these small Maximus watches with the script Waltham signature and the script "A.W.W.Co" over the second bit.

The case is made by Jeannot & Scheibel and is a very heavy 14K case.
