Lever escapements are used in chronometers intended for rough service. This chronometer was probably originally boxed for aircraft use. It came to me in a nondescript box and I placed it in the glass tub and acrylic stand as a table display piece.

It was made in the Kirova factory in Russia in May 1956. The serial number 347 is rather low and may represent a restart of the numbering for the lever chronometers. Or it may actually be the 347th one made in the factory. I don't know when chronometer production began in Russia following WWII.
