Front, Dial, Back, Hallmark, Movement, Second view of movement

Lund & Blockley was a major watchmaker in India and had offices in London on Pall Mall. The Lund was a brother to the Lund of Barraud & Lunds. The firm is most famous for the "Explorer Watches" they made for the Royal Geographic Society that were used on polar exploration.

This is a very large keyless fuzee that was made like a deck watch although it is not free sprung. The case does not have a cuvette and there is a heavy, odd screw that holds the movement in the case. The winding mechanism is apparently the same as the early Barraud & Lunds keyless fuzee watches with a subtle clutch mechanism that engages the winding after about 1/8 turn of the crown.

Lund & Blockley presented all their new watch designs to Queen Victoria and marked the movements and dials with "To the Queen." Note that is not "Watchmaker to the Queen." This was apparently a very clever piece of marketing since the firm did not have a royal warrant.

The significance of the pretty blue dog enameled on the back of the case is not known.
