Watch #3

clock.jpg (296937 bytes)B. D. Bingham Banjo Regulator. Similar to the Howard #1 Regulator with some improvements of Bingham's design.

B. D. Bingham worked briefly at Waltham in 1859 and persuaded Nelson P. Stratton and other disgruntled workers to move to Nashua New Hampshire and start the Nashua Watch Co. Some people believe he modeled the 20 size 3/4 plate design.

Bingham returned briefly to Waltham when the Nashua group was re-absorbed. He then went to Tremont with Dennison where he patented the dust ring. He left Tremont to return to New Hampshire and continued to work in the watch and jewelry business.

There exist a small group of watches with basic Liverpool features and handiwork by B. D. Bingham. There is controversy over how much of the workmanship is Bingham's and how much is standard Liverpool work. Number 3 is pictured here.

The original dial has been retained, but since the clock is our principal timekeeper, a new dial was ordered from the Smallwoods in Dallas, Georgia.
