Front, Back, Case mark, Movement, Angle view of movement

This watch is one of three examples I have seen from the last run of grade 201 watches. The others were also mounted in a filler ring with an oversized dial without a seconds bit in an open face fancy case.

These watches are interesting but, in my opinion, a little less attractive than the earlier examples in grade 201 and 205. Elgin also made some of these opera type watches with open face movements having a seconds bit above the number 6 on the dial. I have not seen any of those in the higher grade 205.

This watch carries serial number 16215022. My friend Mike Laux owned 16215366 that is cased in a square fancy case. These two numbers are far enough apart that it is possible that all of this run are opera style and marked Frances Rubie.
