Front, Back, Inner front, Inner back, Outer case, Watch paper, Case mark, Movement, Edge view of movement, Second edge view of movement This early example is from the period when Paul Phillip Barraud was managing the company and was actively engaged in the contest for the Second Longitude Prize. The company of Howell, Barraud and Jamison produced examples of Mudge's chronometer on a simplified and less expensive plan. The case is gilt, so we cannot precisely date the watch. However, the signature, style and serial number, 2432, indicate that it was made in the mid 1790's. The very nice dial and hands appear very modern for the 1790's and may have been part of a later refurbishment. |
