This watch, 3/3874, is an example of the highest grade of watch produced by Barraud & Lund. This watch was made in several sizes and this is the Grade B or 16 0/2 size watch. They also made a very small number of karrusel watches based on the same design as this watch but in the larger Grade A 18 0/2 size. The keyless fuzee work is activated with a button for winding the watch that appears near the 1:00 position in the face view.

The hallmark is C, which dates the watch to 1878. Assay marks changed in July, so the C actually represents the second half of 1878 and the first half of 1879. The earlier watch 3/2537 with the date letter of D (1879/1880) could have been finished only a few weeks later than this watch.
