When the company got into financial difficulties, Gruen left and formed the series of Gruen Watch Companies. This basic ebauche appears with both covered and uncovered winding wheels. Dietrich Gruen's patented safety pinion is marked on the back plate. Many of these watches show up as private label watches with only the Gruen patent to identify them with Gruen. The dial is marked with a monogram for Columbus Watch Co. |
