English Free Sprung Keyless Fuzee attributed to Kullberg

The top grade of Clerkenwell watches have cases that are like no others in the world. The hinges move with total certainty and the case closes firmly but without effort. The very best of these have the lozenges for the setting button built into the form of the case and have 5 knuckle joints. (We say hinges in the U.S.)

The case on this watch, although nearly sensuous in its feel, is of the second level. It is a very heavy 18K case by Matthews. The movement has Kullberg's patent setting mechanism as seen from the small push-in setting lever with the pin release that activates when the case cover is closed. Kullberg's setting is very similar in appearance to Fitch's patent on early Walthams but is mechanically different under the dial.

The name Walter Cooper that appears on the dial and movement was a small retailer in a London suburb.
