Hamilton Masterpiece

The Hamilton "official" entry into the prestige race consisted of the Hamilton Masterpiece that is usually considered the prestige watch, but Hamilton also advertised the 945 as "Masterpiece" watches although I have never seen a marked example with the name Masterpiece on the movement. It does appear inside the case back on some 945 examples. In the early period of the prestige race, the Hamilton 950 pendent set was a distinctive model with full gold train and distinctive presentation casing. I have never seen any of the characteristic advertising for the 950.

One could argue that the 994 was the real full size prestige watch from the numbers produced and the quality of the watch. The Hamilton 900 produced in large numbers is in all major regards identical to the larger 994. Several of these are in the "Small Watch" portion of the collection.
