The McIntyre Watch Co. was founded in 1908 by Fred McIntyre with patents and other ideas developed over the previous several years by Fred and Charles DeLong and capital furnished by a group of Chicago and Kankakee Illinois investors.

The goal from the beginning was to create the very best watch they could produce at a reasonable cost. The intent was to be much better than any watch previously produced in America and to at least equal the best Swiss handmade production of the time.

Considerable effort was also devoted to a design that would be easy for the watchmaker in the field to maintain and yet provide a distinctive appearance and feature set.

This portion of the collection is devoted to those watches and the history of their aborted production and to the other work of Fred McIntyre and Charles DeLong who remained close friends until the time of DeLong's death in 1943.
