Group, Group marks, Mark close-up

The marble slipware pattern was one of MacIntyre's major lines that probably led to the introduction of the art pottery lines in the late 1890's. These pieces were produced on December 3rd, 1878 as may be seen from the coded registry marks on the base. These were made in a variety of shapes and this combination of a master salt, individual salt and mustard pot are typical of the range.

The registry mark on the two salts provides the exact date of manufacture. Batches of goods were taken to the registry office to be stamped each working day. The date is encoded in the stamp. The mark on the master salt and the individual salt are the same, but the individual salt includes the impressed "MACINTYRE."

The year and month letters are in a random order with the following meanings:

1868 1869 1870 1871 1872 1873 1874 1875 1876 1877 1878 1879 1880 1881 1882 1883
