Washington Faience is the first of the built up slipware designs that was a named design with its own stamp. It was developed by Klein and was the forerunner of many such designs by most of the British art potteries with Wedgewood the most prominent of these. Wedgewood's earlier cameo ware preceded these designs by nearly a century, of course. This design was registered late in 1894.
