The A. H. Wallis grade was the second highest grade produced by the United States Watch Co. of Marion, New Jersey. As the company fell on hard times there were a number of reorganizations. The Marion marking on this watch and the general quality of the engraving marks it as a later production item probably reworked from stock that was originally rejected during production. This example is rather better than most seen from this period. It is keywind and that probably indicates that the winding mechanism could not be salvaged.
