Charles T. Higginbotham was the superintendent at Seth Thomas and later at South Bend where he wrote an interesting series of pamphlets on watch repair and maintenance. Higginbotham was granted 10 horological patents although 3 of them were for the little device that measures distance on a bicycle. He assigned 2 patents to Hampden, 6 to Seth Thomas and 1 to Illinois. The drawings and text of the mainspring brace patent are shown here. |
