The Hampden grade 60 is a classic example of the "sleeper" 15 jewel high grade watch. I believe this is the highest grade of finish on the early production of the Hampden Watch Co. This model has gold jewel settings, high grade ruby jewels and gold finish on the steel works. I have not dug through the literature to see how its price compares with other Hampden products of the period, but I suspect it was either the most expensive or one of the most expensive. It is in the same class as the competitors to the Illinois Grade 105 listed in the Bill Meggers Memorial Article in the NAWCC Bulletin.
