| The Nickel 15 Ruby Jewel is marked 15 Ruby rather than 15 Ruby Jewels. This example is shown here in the "as found" condition. I will post more pictures when the watch has been cleaned and the balance staff repaired. I have a diagram of the staff, but have not yet located a replacement. The jewel settings are interesting. The escape and pallet pivots are in flush jewel settings, as they must be to clear the balance. The 4th wheel and 3rd wheel are in raised settings but squared off on the upper surface. The jewel settings show up better in the photograph, while the damascening shows up better in the directly scanned image. For those interested in such things, the movement and dial pictures with the light background were produced by directly scanning. The other movement picture and dial pictures are photographs. The pictures were not processed except for cropping and contrast adjustment. |
