This watch is a pretty ordinary Seth Thomas Model 3 except that it is very English. The patent marking only appears in this form on watches found in England and was presumably for the English market. The examples seen have low serial numbers as well as the patent marking. Perhaps Seth Thomas was originally interested in the English market and later retrenched to only U.S. sales.

The January Patent date is for Reineke's patent stem winding mechanism patent No. 310,865. The September patent is for the improvement of adding a lever to the setting mechanism and is patent No. 325,568.

The case is a nice sterling silver case with some wear that is hallmarked for Chester in 1886.
