Fred McIntyre and Charles DeLong worked to develop a company that would produce the finest watch ever made in American. This presentation begins with the early life of both these men and their collaboration in South McAlister, Indian Territory to develop the patents and designs that would be the foundation of the new company. If you have a high speed Internet connection, you can view the slides on-line using one of the links below. The McIntyre Watch Company was a very brief episode from 1909 to 1911 in Kankakee, Illinois that resulted in the development of a truly remarkable and innovative watch that was only made in 8 examples of the first 16 size model and a single example of the second 12 size model. The McIntyre Watch Co. period is followed by subsequent developments in the careers of Charles DeLong and Fred Mcintyre including the DeLong escapement and Fred's development of high precision gear pumps in support of the synthetic fiber industry. |
