This is a good average example of the Premier Maximus. The Premier Maximus was Waltham's entry into the "Prestige Watch" category and was also the highest grade produced from a technical standpoint. The damascening is very plain in the Swiss tradition as was the fashion in the early 20th century. The gear train seems plainer than the red gold train found on its cousins the Bridge Model, but the material is actually an alloy of copper and beryllium that was chosen for its superior lubricity even to gold. This was one of the first uses of this material in gear work. This watch shows quite a bit of wear on the case, but all the case parts are marked with the watch serial number and it is clearly all original except for the dial which is a new old stock replacement for the damaged dial the watch had when purchased.
