Movement.jpg (553104 bytes) Dial.jpg (421090 bytes) Cuvette2.jpg (497445 bytes)
Front, Back, Dial, Movement, Case mark, Cuvette, Cuvette mark, Angle view of movement, Pillar plate mark closeup, Diamond endstone closeup

This is a very nice grade 510 with its original dial that has unfortunately been pretty badly damaged. It may clean up a bit with some soaking.

Apart from being a grade 510, this watch has a very interesting case. The inscription on the cuvette claims that the watch was made from scrap gold inherited from the owner's parents. The story is made a bit more plausible because the front cover has a prominent lip for opening it while the back cover has none.

The Illinois records as recorded in Russ Snyder's database list this watch as grade 410, but it seems pretty clear from examination that it is identical to the other 510 in the collection. The primary differences between it and the 410 are the flamboyant engraving of Illinois, the lack of a visible jewel on the barrel and the diamond endstone on the balance.
