The grade 300/305 was Rockford's highest grade of 12 size watch. It and the 16 size 500/505 have nearly identical finishes and sold for the same price when new. The list price for the movement was $85 in 1913. It was the most expensive watch in the Rockford family selling for $35 more than the 24 jewel grade 800/900. There is an old advertisement for a 23J grade 500/505 but all the existing examples are 21J and the serial number lists do not show a 23J run.

This example is in nearly pristine condition with its original 14K case. The 300/305 23J watches have very odd jewelling. Rather than a jeweled barrel, the last two jewels are cap jewels on the third wheel arbor.

The serial number is 772,954. The serial number list records 300 grade 300 and 300 grade 305 movements. This watch is from the first run of 100 grade 305.
