In my opinion, the 12 size 19 jewel Hamilton 900 is the best finished small watch produced in volume. It does not equal the Waltham 00 size and the small Elgins give it a run for its money, but the open layout, gold train and lovely tight damascening pattern are very attractive and the finish is generally excellent. The two examples in the collection have been selected from dozens I have owned over the years. The best is the early movement without the grade number in the Hamilton Crest case. Perhaps equally interesting is the Packard Logo example. |
