B. D. Bingham worked briefly at Waltham in 1859 and persuaded Nelson P. Stratton and other disgruntled workers to move to Nashua New Hampshire and start the Nashua Watch Co. Some people believe he modeled the 20 size 3/4 plate design. Bingham returned briefly to Waltham when the Nashua group was re-absorbed. He then went to Tremont with Dennison where he patented a dust ring that could be fitted to existing movements without interfering with the casing. He left with the close of Tremont to return to New Hampshire where he continued to work in the watch and jewelry business. There exist a small group of watches with basic Liverpool features and handiwork by B. D. Bingham. There is controversy over how much of the workmanship is Bingham's and how much is standard Liverpool work. Number 3 is pictured here.
