| Front Dial Back Cuvette Movement Second view of Movement Hallmark Cuvette mark This watch is a good example of the work of French makers in the mid 19th century. The serial number as seen on the cuvette is 6586. The watch is approximately 40 mm in diameter and has a cylinder escapement without parachute or compensation curb that appear on the high grade French work of the period. The outstanding features of the watch relate to the case, dial and motion works. The motion works has an eccentric minute hand and dial with an inset seconds bit. The digital jump hour appears in a separate window. All the indications are in a nicely done engine turned silver dial. The case is 18 karat with French hallmarks (uninterpreted). The numbers 12/33 that appear on the cuvette, could mean December 1833, which is a plausible date for this watch. The movement is in good condition with the exception of the old solder repair that has discolored the barrel. |
