Front Back Cuvette Movement

This is an excellent example of the Dietrich Gruen. There is very little material recorded on this model watch. It was reportedly the dream of Dietrich Gruen to produce a watch that was superior to any other produced. On his death his sons brought out the Dietrich Gruen in attempt to fulfill that dream.

These watches preceded the Gruen 50th Anniversary "prestige" watch that was developed as part of a comprehensive marketing program. Both this Dietrich Gruen and the 50th Anniversary are also listed under the Prestige Watch category.

This watch and the McIntyre watch are the only watches I know of with a jeweled winding indicator. In the case of the McIntyre watch the winding indicator jewelling is in addition to the jeweled barrel.
