I fell in love with this little watch when I saw the dial signature hiding up by the bezel. It is a very well made ladies watch by the large Liverpool firm of Litherland, Davies & Co. The case is hallmarked for London 1856 with the case makers punch mark PC.

The case is also signed L.D.& Co. so this watch is actually triple signed. The serial number 20940 is also repeated in the case.

This watch illustrates one of the odd jewelling patterns used by English makers. In addition to the normal 7 jewels in the single roller escapement, it has cap jewels on the escape wheel and the 4th wheel is jeweled. There are no jewels on the pallet arbor, so the total is 13 jewels. This is a fuzee watch. The fuzee and chain are visible in the close-up view of the movement.

The size of this watch is equivalent to a 4 size American watch (36 mm across the dial).
